The
Handbook of Phrenology is a collaboration between artist Hilary
Lorenz and writer Albert Mobilio. The Handbook is a collection
of 5 prose fiction pieces that revolved around the 19th
century science of phrenology or "the reading of ones
head shape to determine personality."
The
book measuring 13" x 19 is in an edition of 100 that
includes six etchings by Lorenz. The 26 pages were hand printed
and bound over the course of two years. The hand drawn etchings
chronicle Lorenzs response to Mobilios text. Each deluxe
edition number 10-40 is complete with a slipcase and a 24-carat
gold seal and sells for $500. The
standard edition without a slipcase, numbers 41-100 are $350.
