| Bio:
Born in the Midwest, Hilary Lorenz uses wilderness hiking to investigate
ritual and rhythm that test physical and psychic boundaries as the
interplay for her works on paper. Lorenz has been awarded grants
and
fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation; the NEA-MidAtlantic Foundation;
the Frans MasereelCentrum, Belgium; the Miskolc Museum of Contemporary
Art, Hungary; and the Lower East Side Printshop, New York. She has
had recent exhibitions at SafeTGallery, Brooklyn; Santa Fe Art Institute,
New Mexico; Taiwan Museum of Art; and Hunterdon Museum of Art, New
Jersey. Lorenz has received residencies at the C-Scape Winter Residency,
Provincetown; Santa Fe Art Institute, New Mexico; The School of
the Art Institute of Chicago, Ox-Bow; and Manhattan Graphics and
Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, New York. Her artwork has been reviewed
in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Art in America, and Art
on Paper. Lorenz received her MFA from theUniversity of Iowa in
printmaking and multimedia.
